Medvedev and Obama will meet in Lisbon

The U.S. ambassador in Russia, John Beyrle, said today that Russia expects the presidents and the U.S. are in NATO-Russia summit in Lisbon, which takes place on 19 and 20 November.
"With regard to Lisbon, hope so," said Beyrle to answer the question of whether Moscow Echo radio Dmitri Medvedev and Barack Obama will meet in Lisbon on November 20.

The U.S. ambassador also said that despite the outcome of U.S. elections, the Congress hopes that Washington will ratify the START Treaty-3 by the end of the year.

"The START line with the interests of Russians and Americans. This is an important issue of global security and must ratify the document," he said.

The agreement provides for a maximum of 1,550 warheads for each country, ie a reduction of 30 per center in the level set in 2002.

The new START-3 treaty was signed by Russia and the United States in Prague on April 8.
